This was a solid whodunit copper novel. I never would have guessed how the story revealed itself in the end.
DCI, Helen Taylor, has to figure out why there are a sudden rash of fires in their little town of Warren. She has to work with a new transfer,Kate Wolfe, who has a mind of her own when it comes to the job. Their partnership proves beneficial as they continuously uncover information that will eventually lead them to resolution.
This is one of those stories that is hard to comment on without giving away major plot points.
While the attraction and chemistry between the two leads were immediate, the author gave them lots of scenes and situations together to develop a believable deeper connection over time.
There were a lot of intimate scenes. Once they started, they just kept going. For me, it was a little too much.
The mystery was written well. There were so many things going on and they all fit and made sense in the end.
There was a large reveal that was quite unexpected and surprising. I really liked what was revealed but I was not super impressed in the way that it was executed. And while I was OK with how the book ends, I wish that there would have been something more grand.
Overall, this is a decent mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. I recommend for those who like whodunit, f/f romance, cops, fire, and handcuffs.
